Quantum physics can be found learning behind such unremarkable things as the magnets on your fridge door or the transparent glass of windowpanes. In this lecture, Professor Stefan Heusler explains how quantum physics is fundamental to all kinds of technologies. Without it, there would be no solar panels, no medical imaging (such as MRT) and no mobile phones, for example. Yet quantum physics is also much more than this: Like a cat, it is ready to pounce forward into the unknown. Even after 100 years, so many questions remain unclear; and new applications for quantum technologies are already knocking at the door.
This event is organized as part of the Modern Physics lecture series. It is part of a portfolio of events laid on for the Quantum Year 2025 by the Faculty of Physics.
